First Congregational Church Durham, Maine UCC Anniversary Celebration Sunday September 25, 2011(click for information)

First Congregational Church of Durham
773 Royalsborough Road
Durham, Maine 04222
Service at 10:00 am followed by a luncheon at 11:30 am

2011 is a year for a dual celebration at the First Congregational Church of Durham. First it has been 215 years since the first church meeting was held at the Bagley House with the hope that there would be a church for the residents of Royalsborough, and second that the current building of that early church meeting was dedicated 60 years ago on September 16, 1951.
We celebrate the memory of those who had the faith that this community would be well served by a community of believers within its borders. We celebrate the energy; sacrifice and continued faith that helped build our current building. Join with us as we honor those who had the vision to bring us to this point of celebration. We praise in thanksgiving those who have made our church in Durham, Maine a reality. We praise in thanksgiving those who continue to work, that future generations may enjoy this house of worship.
We cordially invite you to join us for a celebratory service of worship and luncheon to follow on Sunday, September 25, 2011. The success of our church is its membership but also its friends, previous participants and members. Your presence will make this event special and memorable. We are looking forward to a celebration and reunion of current church members and those visionaries who saw the need and acted.
The celebration begins with a worship service at 10 AM followed by a luncheon in our vestry. Dr David Gaeweski, conference minister, will bring the message.
